Solo works and trios featuring Chemainus native Adam Weinmann, Toronto bassoonist Ondrej Golias and Vancouver pianist Eva Hodge. Come celebrate the start of summer with a program of light music for oboe, bassoon and piano, including works by Ravel, Saint-Saëns, Dvorák and Poulenc.
Oboist and pianist Adam Weinmann hails from Chemainus, BC. He received his BMus from the University of Victoria and his MFA in oboe performance from the California Institute of the Arts, under the auspices of the Richard Colburn Scholarship in Music. While living on the West Coast, Adam played with the Victoria Youth Orchestra, the Victoria Chamber Orchestra, The Gabriola Island Chamber Ensemble and at the San Juan Island Chamber Music Festival.
Currently in his second season as principal bassoon of the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra, Ondrej Golias is a busy Toronto-based performer frequently appearing with orchestras such as the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, Toronto Philharmonia, the Talisker Players, Orchestra London, and the Hamilton Philharmonic. Ondrej has also performed with the Westben Festival Orchestra and in the Liberty Village New Artist Summer Series in Toronto.
Born and raised in the greater Vancouver area, Eva Hodge is an award-winning young solo artist and chamber musician. In April of 2011, she completed her Masters of Music in Performance from the University of Victoria where she studied with Bruce Vogt and Michelle Mares. In the past years she has won a number of awards including a Johann Strauss Scholarship which gave her the opportunity to study piano at the celebrated Mozarteum Summer Academy in Salzburg, Austria as well as with Barbara Moser in Vienna. From 2004 to 2008, Eva appeared with the Donna Fishwick Piano Ensemble in a number of concerts in the lower mainland. She also toured Europe with this ensemble in the summer of 2008.
