Cari Burdett’s passion for contemporary music and opera garnered her star reviews for the role of Baba the Turk in Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress, performed in London, England. Equally at home with early music, Cari has been praised for her operatic roles in works by Monteverdi and Handel. She graduated from McGillUniversity and earned a Masters degree in Music Performance from the Royal Academy of Music in London. She currently lives with her husband and three children in the CowichanValley, where she is the director of Lila Music Centre (www.joythroughmusic.com), offering voice lessons, choirs, workshops, and producing new music performances throughout the year.
Leah Hokanson has performed extensively as a solo, chamber, and orchestral pianist. Since moving to Gabriola 10 years ago she has kept a foothold in the classical world while exploring other styles of music and improvisation. Leah enjoys the collaborative process and has had many opportunities to work with performing artists and ensembles in a variety of settings and genre. Currently she directs the Gabriola Chamber Ensemble, and is founder and artistic director of the Lulu Performing Arts Society.
