Nicholas Fairbank was born and raised on Canada’s west coast, and now lives and works in Victoria, BC. He divides his time between his various musical activities as composer, collaborative pianist, harpsichordist and organist, conductor, adjudicator, clinician, teacher and singer (as the baritone in the vocal ensemble Hexaphone).

The Viva Youth Choirs are a Victoria-based organization for children and youth aged 7 to 17.  In their 24th year, they have been part of Victoria’s music scene since 1988.  The Senior ensemble is an auditioned group of a dozen singers ages 12-17 who sing in 3 and 4 parts, gaining musical skills while learning an eclectic repertoire of classical, folk and world music.  Nicholas Fairbank has been the Artistic Director of Viva since 2009; he is assisted by Sarah Quartel who conducts the Junior and Intermediate choirs.
